Responsibility
- Perform hand-stitching, sewing machine operations, and adhesive patch applications to mend, repair, and alter guest clothing and employee uniforms.
- Inspect garments for damage, wear, or staining and determine the most effective repair methods.
- Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines, irons, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with the housekeeping and guest services teams to prioritize urgent repair requests.
- Manage inventory of sewing supplies (threads, buttons, zippers, fabrics) and request restocks as needed.
- Ensure all repaired or altered items meet Marriottâs quality standards before returning them to guests or staff.
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene protocols in the laundry and sewing work areas.
- Assist with folding, pressing, and packaging cleaned and repaired garments for delivery.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a seamstress, tailor, or in a similar role, preferably in a hospitality or high-volume laundry setting.
- Proficiency in hand-sewing techniques, machine sewing, and garment alteration (e.g., hemming, taking in/out seams, replacing zippers).
- Ability to identify fabric types and select appropriate repair methods for each.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering flawless results.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move laundry baskets (up to 20 kg).
- Basic English communication skills; additional languages (e.g., Indonesian, Balinese) are a plus.
- Familiarity with industrial laundry equipment and chemical safety is advantageous.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to support resort operations.
