Responsibility
- Assist in the preparation of Japanese dishes, including chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, such as grills, fryers, and food processors, ensuring safety and hygiene standards are met.
- Support chefs in cooking and plating dishes according to Robata Akari’s high standards of presentation and quality.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and compliant with food safety regulations at all times.
- Receive and store food deliveries, checking for quality and freshness while managing inventory.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations before and after service.
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of dishes to guests.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to maintain consistency in taste and presentation.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality role is a plus, but not required—we welcome enthusiastic beginners!
- Basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine or a strong interest in learning is highly desirable.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety (HACCP, ISO, or similar certifications are a plus).
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 10 kg.
- Valid food handler’s certificate or willingness to obtain one (training provided if needed).
