Responsibility
- Assist in curating and maintaining an exceptional wine list tailored to the venueâs cuisine and clientele.
- Provide expert wine recommendations and pairings to enhance guestsâ dining experiences.
- Conduct wine tastings and educate staff and guests on wine varieties, regions, and serving techniques.
- Monitor and manage wine inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and proper storage conditions.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop food and wine pairing menus for special events.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new vineyards, and emerging wine regions to keep offerings fresh and exciting.
- Assist in training front-of-house staff on wine service standards and upselling techniques.
- Handle wine orders, deliveries, and supplier negotiations under the guidance of senior sommeliers.
Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized sommelier program (e.g., WSET Level 2 or equivalent) is a plus, but not required for junior candidates.
- Basic knowledge of wine varieties, regions, and service etiquette.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with guests and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a keen eye for detail.
- Passion for continuous learning and a willingness to participate in wine education programs.
- Previous experience in hospitality, fine dining, or beverage service is advantageous.
- Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Indonesian, French, or Spanish) are a bonus.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the hospitality industry.
