As an IP Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in filing, prosecuting, and managing IP cases with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines and other regional authorities. Responsibility
- Prepare, file, and prosecute trademark, patent, and copyright applications with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines and other relevant authorities.
- Conduct comprehensive IP searches and provide legal opinions on registrability, infringement risks, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
- Manage and monitor IP portfolios for clients, ensuring timely renewals, maintenance, and compliance with local and international regulations.
- Draft and review IP-related agreements, including licensing, assignment, and non-disclosure contracts.
- Advise clients on IP enforcement strategies, including opposition proceedings, cancellations, and litigation support.
- Stay updated on changes in IP laws and regulations in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, and communicate relevant updates to the team and clients.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and external counsel to develop and execute IP protection strategies tailored to client needs.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff and clients on IP best practices and procedural requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Law, Intellectual Property, or a related field; a Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in IP law, with a focus on filing, prosecution, and portfolio management in the Philippines or Southeast Asia.
- In-depth knowledge of Philippine IP laws, WIPO treaties, and international IP frameworks.
- Proven ability to draft and review legal documents, including IP applications, contracts, and legal opinions.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Filipino or other Southeast Asian languages is a plus.
- Familiarity with IP management software and databases (e.g., WIPO Global Brand Database, IPOPHL e-services).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
