As an Import Specialist, you will play a key role in navigating complex customs regulations, preparing and verifying import documentation, and coordinating with internal teams, customs brokers, and government agencies. Your expertise will directly contribute to minimizing delays, reducing costs, and maintaining compliance with local and international trade laws.

Responsibility

  • Prepare, review, and submit accurate import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations, to ensure compliance with Indonesian and international trade regulations.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate smooth customs clearance processes and resolve any discrepancies or delays.
  • Monitor and track import shipments from origin to delivery, ensuring timely arrival and adherence to project timelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs laws, tariffs, duties, and trade agreements to optimize import processes and minimize costs.
  • Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and finance teams to align import activities with business objectives and budgetary constraints.
  • Conduct risk assessments for import shipments and implement mitigation strategies to avoid penalties or compliance issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customs officials, vendors, and internal stakeholders to streamline operations.
  • Generate reports on import activities, costs, and performance metrics for management review and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in customs clearance, import/export operations, or a similar role, preferably in the manufacturing or heavy machinery industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indonesian customs regulations, HS codes, and import procedures, including familiarity with INSW (Indonesian National Single Window) and other relevant systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex trade laws and apply them to practical scenarios.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and experience with ERP or customs management software is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
