As the HSE Department Head, you will oversee all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management, ensuring adherence to local and international regulations. Responsibility
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor the HSE team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and compliance.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures.
- Collaborate with senior management to integrate HSE considerations into business strategies and operational plans.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through awareness campaigns, training programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the mining, natural resources, or energy sectors.
- Certified HSE professional (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage complex HSE challenges.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful HSE programs and initiatives.
- Willingness to travel to operational sites as required.
