Responsibility
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of workplace environments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the needs of our Northern stores.
- Perform detailed risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to minimize risks and enhance workplace safety.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the development of preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Design and deliver engaging safety training sessions for employees at all levels, ensuring awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety, encouraging proactive reporting and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for ongoing enhancement.
- Stay updated with the latest health and safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends to ensure our policies remain current and effective.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer or in a similar role, preferably within retail, logistics, or a multi-site environment.
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of local and international health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training sessions.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
