Mynews, a leading retail brand, is looking for a skilled General Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team in Petaling Jaya. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining the high standards of our retail outlets by ensuring all facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient.
As our Maintenance Technician, you will be the go-to person for on-site repairs and preventive maintenance. You will handle everything from plumbing and minor electrical fixes to general structural upkeep. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, reliable, and capable of working independently to minimize downtime and provide an excellent environment for our customers and staff. Responsibility
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance across various Mynews retail outlets.
- Execute urgent plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, pipe replacements, and drainage issues.
- Perform minor electrical repairs, such as replacing light fixtures, switches, and troubleshooting simple circuit issues.
- Maintain building infrastructure, including painting, wall repairs, and basic carpentry tasks.
- Coordinate with store managers to resolve facility-related issues promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and company quality standards.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Document all completed repairs and maintenance logs for management review.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, plumbing, or general facility trades.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel between sites in Petaling Jaya/Selangor.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude when interacting with store staff.
- Possessing a vocational certificate (SKM) or equivalent in related technical fields is a significant advantage.
