Responsibility
- Conduct thorough First Article Inspections (FAI) for sheet metal components and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards (e.g., AS9102, ISO 9001).
- Develop and maintain detailed FAI reports, including measurement data, material certifications, and process validations.
- Collaborate with quality assurance, production, and engineering teams to identify and resolve non-conformities.
- Perform dimensional inspections using precision tools such as CMM, calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
- Review and approve manufacturing processes, including tooling, fixturing, and assembly methods, to ensure repeatability and consistency.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action (CAPA) processes for any deviations or defects identified during inspection.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in sheet metal fabrication and quality control.
- Train and mentor junior inspectors and production staff on FAI methodologies and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a First Article Inspection (FAI) role, specifically within sheet metal fabrication.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools (CMM, calipers, micrometers, etc.) and inspection techniques.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and FAI standards (AS9102).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems and digital inspection software is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) to liaise with cross-functional teams and clients.
