Responsibility
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients for zoo animal diets and staff meals.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and organizing storage areas.
- Support the kitchen team in plating and presenting meals according to established standards.
- Follow strict hygiene and food safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in inventory management, including stocking supplies and notifying supervisors of low items.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under supervision.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during peak hours.
- Adhere to zoo-specific guidelines for handling food intended for animals and staff.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations or a strong willingness to learn.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 20 kg).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work evening shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Prior experience in hospitality, catering, or food service is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices.
- Passion for working in unique environments, such as zoos or wildlife parks.
