Equinix is the worldâs digital infrastructure company, and we are looking for a highly skilled Critical Facilities Engineer IV (Mechanical) to join our elite operations team in Iskandar Puteri, Johor. In this role, you will be the backbone of our data center reliability, ensuring that our mechanical infrastructureâincluding HVAC systems, chillers, and CRAC unitsâoperates at peak performance to support mission-critical global data traffic.

Responsibility
- Manage, operate, and maintain all critical mechanical infrastructure, including large-scale chiller plants, cooling towers, and CRAC/CRAH units.
- Execute rigorous preventative and predictive maintenance programs to ensure zero downtime and maximum system availability.
- Lead complex incident response and root-cause analysis for mechanical system failures or performance anomalies.
- Supervise third-party vendors and contractors ensuring compliance with Equinix safety protocols and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Perform daily rounds and readings of mechanical systems, utilizing Building Management Systems (BMS) for real-time monitoring and data analysis.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and support critical facility infrastructure upgrades and commissioning projects.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including maintenance logs, incident reports, and technical manuals to ensure full compliance with internal and external audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in mission-critical facility operations, preferably within a large-scale data center environment.
- Deep technical knowledge of HVAC systems, centrifugal/screw chillers, pumps, and water treatment chemistry.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems under pressure while adhering to strict safety and security protocols.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage vendor relationships and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Professional certification (e.g., Professional Engineer or relevant trade certifications) is highly desirable.
