job description

Join the Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in our mission to provide compassionate, patient-centered care through our Home Care Programme. We are seeking a dedicated Medical Officer to deliver high-quality palliative care to patients in the comfort of their homes in Bali.

This role combines clinical expertise with a teaching component, allowing you to make a meaningful impact while mentoring healthcare professionals in palliative best practices. If you are a Malaysian MMC-registered doctor with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and a passion for holistic patient care, we invite you to apply.

As part of our team, you will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, ensuring dignity, comfort, and quality of life for patients facing life-limiting illnesses. Experience in palliative care is preferred but not mandatory—what matters most is your compassion, clinical skills, and commitment to ethical medical practice.

Responsibility

  • Provide comprehensive medical assessments and develop individualized care plans for palliative patients in home settings.
  • Administer and monitor pain management and symptom control treatments tailored to patient needs.
  • Collaborate with nurses, social workers, and caregivers to ensure holistic patient support.
  • Conduct patient and family counseling on end-of-life care, advance directives, and emotional well-being.
  • Lead clinical training sessions for healthcare staff on palliative care principles and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review and adjust care plans.
  • Advocate for patient rights and ethical medical practices in all interactions.

Qualifications

  • Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) registration with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
  • Medical degree from a recognized institution (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, with preference given to candidates with palliative care exposure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work independently and compassionately in home-based care environments.
  • Familiarity with pain management protocols, symptom assessment tools, and ethical decision-making in palliative care.
  • Willingness to travel within Bali to conduct home visits.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in palliative medicine.
