Join the Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in our mission to provide compassionate, patient-centered care through our Home Care Programme. We are seeking a dedicated Medical Officer to deliver high-quality palliative care to patients in the comfort of their homes in Bali.
This role combines clinical expertise with a teaching component, allowing you to make a meaningful impact while mentoring healthcare professionals in palliative best practices. As part of our team, you will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, ensuring dignity, comfort, and quality of life for patients facing life-limiting illnesses. Experience in palliative care is preferred but not mandatory—what matters most is your compassion, clinical skills, and commitment to ethical medical practice.
Responsibility
- Provide comprehensive medical assessments and develop individualized care plans for palliative patients in home settings.
- Administer and monitor pain management and symptom control treatments tailored to patient needs.
- Collaborate with nurses, social workers, and caregivers to ensure holistic patient support.
- Conduct patient and family counseling on end-of-life care, advance directives, and emotional well-being.
- Lead clinical training sessions for healthcare staff on palliative care principles and best practices.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review and adjust care plans.
- Advocate for patient rights and ethical medical practices in all interactions.
Qualifications
- Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) registration with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
- Medical degree from a recognized institution (MBBS or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, with preference given to candidates with palliative care exposure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and compassionately in home-based care environments.
- Familiarity with pain management protocols, symptom assessment tools, and ethical decision-making in palliative care.
- Willingness to travel within Bali to conduct home visits.
- Commitment to continuous professional development in palliative medicine.
