Responsibility
- Develop and implement category strategies to optimize procurement processes and enhance product availability.
- Lead supplier negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and contracts while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to identify opportunities for category growth and improvement.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and logistics teams, to align procurement activities with business goals.
- Oversee the selection, evaluation, and performance of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery standards.
- Analyze sales data, inventory levels, and demand forecasts to make informed purchasing decisions and minimize stockouts or overstock situations.
- Prepare and present reports on category performance, budget adherence, and cost-saving initiatives to senior management.
- Mentor and guide junior buyers and procurement staff to foster a high-performing team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, category management, or buying, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven track record in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost optimization.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, sales trends, and financial reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Knowledge of retail industry trends, consumer behavior, and product lifecycle management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
