Responsibility
- Assist the Head Sommelier in developing and maintaining an extensive wine list tailored to the venue’s cuisine and clientele.
- Provide expert wine recommendations and pairings to enhance guest dining experiences.
- Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for staff and guests to promote wine appreciation.
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing wine to ensure optimal conditions and stock levels.
- Monitor wine sales trends and guest preferences to refine selections and recommendations.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to design wine-paired menus for special events and promotions.
- Ensure impeccable wine service, including proper decanting, glassware selection, and presentation.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new releases, and emerging wine regions to keep offerings fresh and competitive.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a sommelier or fine dining beverage service role.
- Certification from a recognized sommelier program (e.g., WSET Level 2 or higher, Court of Master Sommeliers) is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and food pairing principles.
- Exceptional palate and ability to assess wine quality, faults, and aging potential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with guests and team members.
- Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Indonesian, French, Mandarin) are advantageous.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in a fast-paced environment.
