Responsibility
- Perform cutting, mounting, and polishing of metallographic specimens to prepare samples for microscopic examination.
- Prepare and apply chemical etchants to reveal microstructural details in metals and alloys.
- Conduct microscopic analysis (optical and/or electron microscopy) to assess material properties, defects, and structural integrity.
- Document and interpret test results, generating detailed reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
- Collaborate with senior metallurgists and engineers to troubleshoot material failures and recommend improvements.
- Assist in the development and validation of new testing methodologies and procedures.
- Adhere to strict laboratory protocols, including sample handling, data recording, and waste disposal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Hands-on experience in metallographic sample preparation (cutting, grinding, polishing) is a plus.
- Familiarity with microscopy techniques (optical, SEM) and image analysis software.
- Knowledge of material testing standards (ASTM, ISO) and quality control processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal); additional languages are a bonus.
- Willingness to undergo training and stay updated on industry advancements.
