Responsibility
- Prepare and mix sourdough starters and dough using traditional and modern techniques.
- Shape, proof, and bake a variety of artisan breads, ensuring consistency in quality and appearance.
- Monitor baking times, temperatures, and oven conditions to achieve perfect results.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic bakery workspace in compliance with food safety standards.
- Collaborate with the team to develop new bread recipes and improve existing ones.
- Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, ensuring timely restocking.
- Assist in packaging and presenting finished products for retail or wholesale distribution.
- Provide guidance and training to junior bakers or apprentices when needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a baker, preferably with a focus on sourdough or artisan breads.
- Deep understanding of fermentation processes, dough handling, and baking science.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required in a bakery setting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy ingredients (up to 25kg).
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Creative mindset with a passion for experimenting with flavors and techniques.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
