Responsibility

  • Prepare and mix sourdough starters and dough using traditional and modern techniques.
  • Shape, proof, and bake a variety of artisan breads, ensuring consistency in quality and appearance.
  • Monitor baking times, temperatures, and oven conditions to achieve perfect results.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic bakery workspace in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop new bread recipes and improve existing ones.
  • Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, ensuring timely restocking.
  • Assist in packaging and presenting finished products for retail or wholesale distribution.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior bakers or apprentices when needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a baker, preferably with a focus on sourdough or artisan breads.
  • Deep understanding of fermentation processes, dough handling, and baking science.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required in a bakery setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy ingredients (up to 25kg).
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
