Responsibility
- Prepare daily vegetarian meals in accordance with temple guidelines, ensuring nutritional balance and exceptional taste.
- Maintain strict kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Manage inventory of ingredients, supplies, and equipment, placing orders as needed to avoid shortages.
- Collaborate with temple staff to plan menus for regular meals, special events, and religious ceremonies.
- Monitor food costs and minimize waste through efficient portion control and storage practices.
- Assist in training and supervising kitchen assistants or volunteers when required.
- Support ad-hoc tasks, including setup and cleanup for temple events or community gatherings.
- Innovate and refine recipes to incorporate seasonal, locally sourced ingredients where possible.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a cook or chef, with a strong background in vegetarian or vegan cuisine.
- Knowledge of Asian culinary techniques and plant-based protein alternatives is a plus.
- Certification in food safety and hygiene (e.g., HACCP) is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (e.g., ingredient supplies).
