Responsibility
- Lead and oversee the underwriting process for all classes of insurance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to underwriting teams, distribution partners, and product development units.
- Develop and implement underwriting policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency and profitability.
- Collaborate with actuaries, claims teams, and sales to align underwriting strategies with business objectives.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to adapt underwriting guidelines proactively.
- Conduct complex risk assessments and approve or decline high-value or non-standard insurance applications.
- Train, mentor, and develop underwriting staff to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on underwriting performance, trends, and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Actuarial Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, FLMI, or ACII) are a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in underwriting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the insurance sector.
- In-depth knowledge of life, health, general, or specialty insurance products and underwriting principles.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in underwriting software, Excel, and data analytics tools.
- Familiarity with Indonesian insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a focus on team development and operational excellence.
