Responsibility
- Oversee and manage the technical operations of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code).
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of vessel machinery and systems.
- Coordinate with shipboard engineers, classification societies, and external vendors to ensure timely inspections, repairs, and certifications.
- Monitor and optimize fuel consumption, lubrication, and other operational costs to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues, providing root-cause analysis and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and manage technical budgets, including dry-docking, repairs, and spare parts procurement.
- Ensure all vessels under your supervision meet safety, environmental, and operational standards set by the company and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor and train engineering crews to uphold best practices in maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field; Chief Engineer or Second Engineer license is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar technical superintendent or senior engineering role within the maritime industry.
- In-depth knowledge of ship machinery, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and navigation equipment.
- Familiarity with classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register) and flag-state requirements.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple vessels and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including crew, shore-based staff, and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in maritime software (e.g., Planned Maintenance Systems, condition monitoring tools).
- Willingness to relocate to Bali, Indonesia, with occasional travel to other ports or shipyards as required.
