Responsibility
- Conduct structural assessments of commercial and multifamily buildings to identify vulnerabilities and recommend resilience-enhancing solutions.
- Apply FORTIFIED standards and ASTM guidelines to design and evaluate structural improvements for properties.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, contractors, and clients, to implement resilience-focused designs.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations outlining structural findings, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and best practices related to structural resilience and disaster mitigation.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
- Participate in client meetings and site visits (as needed) to gather data and present solutions.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international building codes and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on resilience or disaster mitigation.
- In-depth knowledge of FORTIFIED standards for commercial and multifamily buildings.
- Familiarity with ASTM Standard Guide for Property Resilience and other relevant industry guidelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex structural data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, or similar tools).
