Responsibility
- Shift Leadership: Supervise and coordinate a team of engineers during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to operational protocols, safety standards, and SLAs.
- Critical Systems Maintenance: Oversee the monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, HVAC, UPS, generators, and fire suppression systems.
- Incident Response: Lead rapid response to alarms, outages, or emergencies, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and mitigate risks.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all operations comply with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, TIA-942) and maintain accurate logs, reports, and shift handover documentation.
- Preventive Maintenance: Schedule and execute routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance to optimize system performance and longevity.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate repairs, upgrades, or capacity planning.
- Training & Development: Mentor junior engineers, conduct training sessions, and promote a culture of technical excellence and safety awareness.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify inefficiencies, propose process enhancements, and contribute to the evolution of data centre operations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Certifications in data centre operations (e.g., CDCP, CDCS) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in data centre operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or shift supervisor role.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with critical infrastructure systems (e.g., UPS, PDUs, CRAC/CRAH, BMS, fire detection). Familiarity with DCIM software is advantageous.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
- Safety & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of data centre safety protocols, electrical safety (e.g., NFPA 70E), and environmental regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written English skills, with the ability to document procedures, report incidents, and collaborate across teams.
- Shift Flexibility: Willingness to work rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, delegate tasks, and maintain composure in high-stress situations.
