Responsibility
- Conduct comprehensive site analyses, including topographical, environmental, and socio-economic assessments to inform design decisions.
- Develop master plans for urban areas, ensuring alignment with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.
- Prepare Development Application (DA) documentation, including drawings, reports, and presentations for approvals.
- Create and refine urban design guidelines to maintain consistency across projects, including streetscapes, open spaces, and built form controls.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, landscape designers, and planners to integrate multidisciplinary inputs into cohesive designs.
- Engage with stakeholders (government agencies, community groups, and private clients) to gather feedback and incorporate it into design iterations.
- Utilize BIM, CAD, GIS, and 3D modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, ArcGIS) to visualize and communicate design concepts.
- Stay abreast of emerging urban design trends, such as smart cities, green infrastructure, and transit-oriented development (TOD).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field; professional accreditation (e.g., AIA, APA, or equivalent) is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in urban design, with a portfolio showcasing master planning, site analysis, and DA documentation.
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit) and GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Strong understanding of urban design principles, including placemaking, density, connectivity, and sustainability.
- Experience working with Australian standards and regulations (preferred but not mandatory).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid/remote setting with a global team.
