Responsibility
- Develop and review structural steel designs, ensuring compliance with international codes (e.g., AISC, Eurocode) and local regulations.
- Perform advanced calculations for load-bearing capacity, stability, and material efficiency using software like STAAD.Pro, ETABS, or Tekla.
- Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize material usage, reduce costs, and enhance structural performance without compromising safety.
- Prepare and present detailed technical reports, drawings, and specifications for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and project managers to integrate structural solutions into holistic design plans.
- Drive design innovation by researching and implementing new technologies, materials, and methodologies in steel construction.
- Conduct site inspections and feasibility studies to assess structural integrity and propose improvements for existing or new projects.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to ensure project deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; PE (Professional Engineer) or Chartered Engineer certification is a plus.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in structural steel design, with a portfolio of completed projects in commercial, industrial, or high-rise sectors.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, Revit Structure) and BIM tools.
- Strong knowledge of steel design standards (AISC, BS 5950, Eurocode 3) and seismic/wind load calculations.
- Proven track record in value engineering and cost optimization for large-scale steel structures.
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working in international or multicultural teams is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles and LEED certification is an advantage.
