Responsibility
- Design and develop secure, high-performance backend services and APIs for Google Wallet’s device experiences, ensuring seamless integration across Android and other platforms.
- Lead the architecture and optimization of distributed systems handling millions of transactions daily, with a focus on latency, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and security experts to define and implement features that enhance user trust and adoption of digital credentials.
- Drive end-to-end ownership of key components, from prototyping to production deployment, using modern development practices (CI/CD, observability, etc.).
- Implement robust security measures (e.g., encryption, tokenization, fraud detection) to protect sensitive user data and comply with global financial regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in fintech, mobile payments, and device-level security to propose innovative solutions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Google Pay, Android) to ensure consistency and interoperability across Google’s ecosystem.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in backend systems, distributed computing, or fintech.
- Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python, with a strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OOP principles.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), microservices, and scalable database systems (e.g., Spanner, Bigtable).
- Deep understanding of security best practices (e.g., OAuth, TLS, secure coding) and compliance standards (PCI DSS, GDPR).
- Experience with mobile development (Android/iOS) or payment systems is a strong plus.
- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and optimize system performance under high load.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across global teams.
