job description
Join Benchmark Electronics as a Senior Product Engineer specializing in Sheet Metal Design and lead the development of cutting-edge components for global manufacturing solutions. Based in the vibrant Badung, Bali region, this role offers the unique opportunity to merge precision engineering with innovative design in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
As a key member of our engineering team, you will leverage advanced CAD/CAM tools and industry best practices to create high-precision sheet metal parts, enclosures, and structural components. Your expertise will directly impact product performance, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency while aligning with international quality standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100).
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented engineer passionate about transforming conceptual designs into tangible, high-quality products. With Benchmark Electronicsâ global reach and commitment to excellence, youâll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that power industries from aerospace to medical devices.
Note: Relocation assistance may be available for exceptional candidates.
Responsibility
- Design and develop sheet metal components, enclosures, and assemblies using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or NX).
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance, considering material selection, tolerances, and fabrication methods (e.g., laser cutting, bending, welding).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance) to ensure seamless product transitions from prototype to mass production.
- Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analyses to minimize waste and improve efficiency.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical documentation in compliance with industry standards.
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and stress simulations to validate structural integrity under operational loads.
- Stay abreast of emerging materials, technologies, and industry trends in sheet metal fabrication and propose innovative solutions.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) for design-related issues and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; Masterâs degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in sheet metal design and product development, preferably in electronics manufacturing or precision engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or equivalent) and familiarity with CAM tools.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (e.g., punching, stamping, forming, welding) and material properties (e.g., aluminum, steel, stainless steel).
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to balance technical constraints with business requirements.
- Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems and ERP tools is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) to liaise with global teams and clients.
