Responsibility
- Design, deploy, and manage high-availability MySQL database architectures, including replication, clustering, and sharding.
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and configuration adjustments.
- Monitor and maintain database health, ensuring 99.9% uptime and rapid incident resolution.
- Implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.
- Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD pipelines and application scalability.
- Automate routine database tasks using scripts (Bash, Python, or Perl) to improve efficiency.
- Conduct capacity planning and recommend hardware/software upgrades as needed.
- Stay current with MySQL trends, security patches, and emerging technologies (e.g., Percona, MariaDB).
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a MySQL Database Administrator in a production environment.
- Deep expertise in MySQL 5.7/8.0, including InnoDB, partitioning, and advanced replication.
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and shell scripting.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, or Azure Database) is a plus.
- Proficiency in performance tuning tools (e.g., pt-query-digest, MySQLTuner, Percona Toolkit).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios) and alerting systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document processes for team knowledge sharing.
