Responsibility
- Design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems for marine and offshore applications, including propulsion, piping, and structural components.
- Develop and review technical drawings, specifications, and documentation in compliance with international maritime standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and failure mode analyses to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Collaborate with naval architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to integrate mechanical systems into vessel and offshore platform designs.
- Oversee the procurement, fabrication, and installation of mechanical equipment, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
- Perform on-site inspections and commissioning tests to validate system performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in marine and offshore engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., PE, CEng) is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering for marine, offshore, or oil & gas industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN).
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL) and classification society rules (ABS, DNV, LR).
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems in marine environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Indonesian) are advantageous.
- Willingness to travel to shipyards, offshore sites, or client locations as required.
