Responsibility
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components for the Debug Project, ensuring they meet rigorous performance and safety standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists, software engineers, and public health experts, to integrate mechanical solutions into broader project goals.
- Conduct feasibility studies, prototyping, and testing to validate mechanical designs under real-world conditions.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Develop and implement testing protocols to assess the durability, reliability, and efficiency of mechanical systems in diverse environments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Stay abreast of advancements in mechanical engineering, materials science, and related fields to incorporate best practices into project designs.
- Document design processes, test results, and project progress, ensuring clear communication and knowledge sharing across the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's or PhD preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design and development, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and manufacturing processes, including knowledge of materials selection and fabrication techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with public health, biomedical engineering, or related fields is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
