Responsibility
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on marine engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment to ensure optimal vessel performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in ship systems, including engines, generators, and steering mechanisms.
- Conduct inspections, repairs, and overhauls of marine machinery in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with marine engineers and technicians to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for fleets.
- Supervise junior mechanics and provide technical training to ensure adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
- Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities, equipment conditions, and repair recommendations for management review.
- Ensure all work complies with maritime regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Assist in dry-docking operations, including hull inspections, propeller maintenance, and structural repairs.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Marine Mechanic or in a similar role, with a proven track record in ship maintenance and repair.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing marine diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Strong knowledge of maritime safety standards, including SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) and ISM (International Safety Management) codes.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and condition monitoring techniques for marine equipment.
- Familiarity with tools and equipment used in ship repair, such as welding machines, lathe machines, and diagnostic software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics for marine systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in fast-paced maritime environments.
- Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia, with the ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
