The National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a strategic and proactive Senior Manager / Associate Director for Employee & Industrial Relations (EIR) to join our dynamic HR team.

Responsibility

  • Develop and execute comprehensive Employee and Industrial Relations strategies aligned with the university’s mission.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for union engagements, collective bargaining, and grievance handling.
  • Conduct thorough, impartial investigations into complex workplace complaints and disciplinary matters.
  • Provide strategic advice and coaching to senior leadership on HR policy interpretation and labor legislation.
  • Monitor and analyze local labor laws and employment trends to ensure institutional compliance and best practices.
  • Facilitate constructive dialogue between staff and management to proactively mitigate industrial relations risks.
  • Manage end-to-end performance management and exit processes with a focus on fairness and standard procedures.
  • Lead organizational change management initiatives to improve employee engagement and workplace morale.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in HR, with a strong focus on Industrial Relations and Employee Relations.
  • Proven track record of managing union relations and complex disciplinary or legal proceedings in Singapore.
  • In-depth knowledge of Singapore’s Employment Act and Tripartite Guidelines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, mediation, and negotiation skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Strong analytical mindset, capable of translating complex policy into actionable workplace strategies.
  • Ability to thrive in a large, multifaceted, and multicultural institutional environment.
  • Experience in higher education or the public sector is highly advantageous.
