Are you a seasoned Linux Server Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to work remotely from the tropical paradise of Bali? Our client, a forward-thinking technology firm, is seeking a skilled professional to manage and optimize their Linux-based infrastructure.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance server environments. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies to ensure system reliability, security, and scalability while enjoying the flexibility of remote work from one of Southeast Asia's most vibrant digital nomad hubs.
This is a contract position offering competitive compensation (RM 13,000–18,000/month) with potential for extension. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in Linux administration, cloud technologies, and automation tools.
Responsibility
- Design, deploy, and maintain Linux server infrastructure (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
- Implement and manage virtualization platforms (KVM, Docker, VMware)
- Automate system administration tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability (99.9% uptime)
- Configure and manage web servers (Apache, Nginx) and databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Implement security best practices, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems
- Troubleshoot complex server issues and provide root cause analysis
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of hands-on Linux server administration experience
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl)
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Certifications in Linux (RHCE, LPIC) or cloud technologies are advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
