Responsibility

  • Lead and manage R&D projects in autonomous systems, robotics, and AI-driven automation, from concept to deployment.
  • Design, develop, and optimize algorithms for perception, path planning, and decision-making in robotic systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, and data scientists) to integrate machine learning models into robotic platforms.
  • Oversee the testing, validation, and scaling of autonomous solutions in real-world industrial or commercial environments.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences to establish thought leadership.
  • Mentor junior engineers and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Identify emerging trends in robotics, AI, and IoT and propose strategic initiatives to maintain A*STAR’s competitive edge.
  • Work closely with industry partners to commercialize research outputs and drive adoption of autonomous technologies.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, or industrial automation, with a proven track record in AI/ML applications.
  • Expertise in ROS (Robot Operating System), SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), and control systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, or MATLAB for algorithm development and system prototyping.
  • Experience with sensor fusion, computer vision (OpenCV, LiDAR), and reinforcement learning.
  • Strong background in system integration, embedded systems, or edge computing for robotic platforms.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills, with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams.
  • Publications or patents in autonomous systems, robotics, or AI are highly desirable.
