Responsibility
- Lead and manage R&D projects in autonomous systems, robotics, and AI-driven automation, from concept to deployment.
- Design, develop, and optimize algorithms for perception, path planning, and decision-making in robotic systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, and data scientists) to integrate machine learning models into robotic platforms.
- Oversee the testing, validation, and scaling of autonomous solutions in real-world industrial or commercial environments.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences to establish thought leadership.
- Mentor junior engineers and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Identify emerging trends in robotics, AI, and IoT and propose strategic initiatives to maintain A*STAR’s competitive edge.
- Work closely with industry partners to commercialize research outputs and drive adoption of autonomous technologies.
Qualifications
- PhD or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, or industrial automation, with a proven track record in AI/ML applications.
- Expertise in ROS (Robot Operating System), SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), and control systems.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or MATLAB for algorithm development and system prototyping.
- Experience with sensor fusion, computer vision (OpenCV, LiDAR), and reinforcement learning.
- Strong background in system integration, embedded systems, or edge computing for robotic platforms.
- Excellent project management and leadership skills, with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams.
- Publications or patents in autonomous systems, robotics, or AI are highly desirable.
