Responsibility
- Develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for electrical systems, M&E projects, and infrastructure developments, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Perform precise quantity take-offs from technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to ensure cost accuracy.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to align estimates with project scope, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Analyze historical data, market trends, and vendor quotes to refine cost models and improve bid competitiveness.
- Prepare and present comprehensive bid proposals, including cost breakdowns, risk assessments, and value engineering recommendations.
- Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Monitor project progress and actual costs against estimates, providing variance analysis and corrective action recommendations.
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies in electrical and M&E engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical estimation, M&E cost engineering, or quantity surveying, with a focus on commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or AutoCAD) and Microsoft Excel for complex calculations.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, M&E components, and construction methodologies.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Proven track record of delivering accurate, competitive, and profitable cost estimates under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate cost strategies to stakeholders at all levels.
- Certification in RICS, AACE, or equivalent is a plus but not required.
