Responsibility
- Design and implement scalable, normalized, and denormalized database schemas tailored to business and technical requirements.
- Develop and enforce data governance policies, including access controls, backup/recovery procedures, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, query tuning, and caching strategies.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and DevOps teams to integrate databases with applications and analytics pipelines.
- Evaluate and recommend database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Snowflake) and cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google BigQuery).
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.
- Document database architectures, data dictionaries, and operational procedures for stakeholders.
- Lead database migration projects, including schema updates, data transformation, and ETL processes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Architect, Database Engineer, or similar role.
- Expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database optimization techniques.
- Experience with cloud database services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong understanding of data modeling tools (ERwin, Lucidchart) and version control (Git).
- Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark).
- Familiarity with security best practices, including encryption, role-based access, and audit logging.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
