Responsibility
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance database systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database schemas, queries, and workflows for efficiency.
- Develop and enforce database security policies, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with industry standards.
- Manage database migrations to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in database technologies, cloud computing, and cybersecurity to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on cloud-based solutions and cybersecurity.
- Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or SQL Server.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, including data encryption, access controls, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
- Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and database monitoring tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, agile environment.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) are a plus.
