Responsibility
- Develop and implement Credit and Political Risk insurance strategies to drive business growth and profitability in the Southeast Asian market.
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments for credit, political, and trade finance exposures, ensuring alignment with MSIGâs underwriting guidelines.
- Lead the underwriting process for complex portfolios, including pricing, structuring, and negotiating terms with clients and brokers.
- Monitor and analyze geopolitical and economic trends to proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including claims, legal, and compliance, to ensure seamless policy execution and risk mitigation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and industry stakeholders to expand MSIGâs market share.
- Prepare and present underwriting reports, market analyses, and business cases to senior management and regional teams.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; advanced degrees (MBA, CFA, FRM) are a plus.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Credit and Political Risk underwriting, preferably in the insurance or financial services sector.
- Proven track record in underwriting complex risks, including sovereign, trade credit, and political violence exposures.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, economic data, and geopolitical reports.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English (additional Asian languages are advantageous).
- Deep understanding of international trade, banking, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel III, OECD guidelines).
- Proficiency in underwriting software and risk modeling tools (e.g., Moodyâs, S&P, Bloomberg).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment with a focus on delivering client-centric solutions.
