Responsibility
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with local and international regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide safety training and awareness programs for employees to promote a culture of safety.
- Monitor and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with management to develop emergency response plans and conduct drills.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to occupational health and safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably in the mining or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of local and international safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and engage employees.
- Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
