Responsibility
- Prepare, cut, and package a variety of meats, poultry, and seafood to meet customer specifications and hygiene standards.
- Provide expert advice to customers on product selection, cooking methods, and storage tips to enhance their shopping experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing display of meat and seafood products in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering supplies, and monitoring product freshness.
- Operate and maintain butchery equipment, such as grinders, saws, and slicers, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Handle cash transactions, process payments, and manage customer inquiries or complaints professionally.
- Collaborate with the retail team to promote special offers, seasonal products, and loyalty programs to drive sales.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe working environment for staff and customers.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Butcher, Retail Assistant (Meat/Seafood), or similar role in a retail or grocery setting.
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts, seafood varieties, and food safety standards (HACCP or equivalent is a plus).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to engage and advise customers effectively.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items (up to 20-25 kg), and work in a refrigerated environment.
- Basic math skills for weighing, pricing, and inventory calculations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, to meet business demands.
- Certification in food handling or butchery (e.g., from a culinary school or vocational training) is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management software is a plus.
