Responsibility
- Develop fabrication-ready shop drawings for structural steel components using AutoCAD or equivalent software.
- Interpret and translate engineering designs, blueprints, and specifications into precise technical drawings.
- Ensure all drawings comply with Australian standards (AS/NZS) and project-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to clarify design intent and resolve discrepancies.
- Review and validate drawings for accuracy, completeness, and constructability before submission.
- Maintain organized digital filing systems for all project documentation and revisions.
- Adhere to project deadlines and prioritize tasks to meet client deliverables.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies in structural steel drafting.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Structural Steel Draftsperson or similar role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential) and familiarity with Revit, Tekla, or Advance Steel (a plus).
- Strong understanding of structural steel design principles and fabrication processes.
- Experience working on Australian projects or familiarity with AS/NZS standards is highly advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce error-free technical drawings.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) for remote collaboration.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
