Responsibility
- Review and analyze medical records to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or missing documentation that may impact coding, billing, or patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and coding teams to clarify diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans for accurate documentation.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., CMS, ICD-10, CPT) and organizational policies.
- Educate healthcare providers on best practices for clinical documentation to improve accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct audits and provide feedback to enhance documentation quality and reduce denials or revenue loss.
- Utilize CDI software and electronic health records (EHR) to track and report documentation improvements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, coding guidelines, and regulatory changes to maintain expertise.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to share insights and align on documentation standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (PHRN) or a related healthcare field; certification in Medical Coding (e.g., CCS, CPC, CDIP) is a plus.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement, medical coding, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, DRG, and healthcare compliance standards.
- Excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills to interpret complex medical data.
- Proficient in using EHR systems, CDI software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
