Responsibility
- Assist in sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers for food and related products, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with vendors to secure optimal deals.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with logistics teams to prevent stockouts or excess supply.
- Process purchase orders, track shipments, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers or internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including invoices, receipts, and supplier performance metrics.
- Collaborate with finance and warehouse teams to align purchasing strategies with budget and storage constraints.
- Stay updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new product opportunities in the food distribution industry.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably in food distribution or FMCG.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with suppliers and internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and ERP/procurement software.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven purchasing decisions.
- Knowledge of inventory management principles and just-in-time (JIT) procurement strategies.
- Familiarity with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
