Responsibility
- Lead the technical direction of process and tooling engineering for injection molding operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry best practices.
- Develop, optimize, and validate injection molding processes, including parameter settings, cycle times, and material selection to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Spearhead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action plans for process deviations, defects, or inefficiencies, utilizing data-driven methodologies.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to introduce new products, materials, or technologies, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Oversee the design, procurement, and maintenance of injection molding tools, dies, and auxiliary equipment to support production demands.
- Implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for process performance, including scrap rates, cycle times, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in injection molding, such as Industry 4.0 technologies, automation, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) are a plus.
- Minimum 8–10 years of hands-on experience in injection molding process engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or principal role.
- Deep expertise in process optimization, DOE (Design of Experiments), SPC (Statistical Process Control), and molding simulation software (e.g., Moldflow, Sigmasoft).
- Proven track record of troubleshooting complex molding issues, reducing defects, and improving process stability in high-volume production environments.
- Strong knowledge of material science, particularly thermoplastics, elastomers, and composite materials used in injection molding.
- Experience with tooling design, maintenance, and validation, including collaboration with external vendors and toolmakers.
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills to drive cross-functional initiatives.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other relevant quality management systems is highly desirable.
