Responsibility
- Maintain and organize patient medical records in accordance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all patient information, including diagnoses, treatments, and medical histories.
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals to verify and update patient records, ensuring timely and precise documentation.
- Implement and manage electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for authorized personnel.
- Respond to requests for medical records from patients, healthcare providers, and legal entities while adhering to privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, local regulations).
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with healthcare policies.
- Train and support staff on proper documentation procedures and the use of medical records software.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of policies related to medical records management and data security.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical records management, healthcare administration, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical records software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or local equivalents).
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including patient confidentiality laws (e.g., HIPAA, local data protection laws).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage large volumes of data accurately.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers, patients, and legal entities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Certification in Health Information Management (e.g., RHIA, RHIT) or willingness to obtain certification is a plus.
