Responsibility
- Oversee the daily operations of the Health Information Management System (HIMS) to ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records.
- Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and local data protection laws.
- Collaborate with medical staff, IT teams, and administrative personnel to resolve discrepancies in patient records and improve data integrity.
- Generate reports and analytics from HIMS data to support clinical decision-making, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Train and support hospital staff on proper documentation practices, HIMS usage, and data security protocols.
- Ensure the confidentiality, security, and accessibility of patient records through robust data management practices.
- Assist in audits and quality assurance reviews to identify areas for improvement in record-keeping processes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes affecting health information management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical records management, health information systems, or a similar role in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Health Information Management Systems (HIMS).
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, GDPR, and local data protection laws.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage large volumes of data accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to process improvement and data quality.
- Certification in Health Information Management (e.g., RHIA, RHIT) is a plus.
