Responsibility
- Install, assemble, and align mechanical components, machinery, and piping systems according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure optimal performance and longevity of mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO) to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Operate hand and power tools, as well as specialized machinery, to fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical parts.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and part replacements for record-keeping and compliance purposes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members and apprentices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Fitter, Mechanic, or in a similar role within mechanical engineering or industrial maintenance.
- Certification or vocational training in Mechanical Fitting, Engineering, or a related field (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and piping layouts.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and diagnostic equipment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle heavy components and work in confined or elevated spaces.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with workplace safety regulations and PPE requirements.
