job description

Join Arup, a global leader in engineering and design, as a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Inspector of Works in the vibrant heart of Bali, Indonesia. This contract role offers a unique opportunity to ensure the highest standards of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) for cutting-edge M&E projects across commercial, residential, or infrastructure developments.

As a key member of our team, you will oversee the execution of mechanical and electrical installations, ensuring compliance with international standards, local regulations, and project specifications. Your expertise will directly contribute to the safety, efficiency, and longevity of critical systems, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic markets.

Based in Denpasar, you’ll work in a culturally rich environment with access to Bali’s world-class infrastructure projects. Whether you’re inspecting HVAC systems, electrical wiring, or plumbing installations, your meticulous approach will drive excellence in every phase of construction.

Responsibility

  • Conduct on-site inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to verify compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement QA/QC procedures, checklists, and reporting systems for M&E works.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals from contractors and suppliers.
  • Identify and document non-conformities, proposing corrective actions and verifying their resolution.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning tests for M&E systems, including performance validation.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records for audits and client handovers.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, local regulations (e.g., SNI, PUIL), and international standards (e.g., NFPA, IEC).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CQI, IRCA, or PMI) is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in M&E inspection, QA/QC, or construction supervision, preferably in large-scale projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, building codes (e.g., IBC, NEC), and Indonesian construction regulations.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BIM models, and specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Familiarity with inspection tools (e.g., thermal imaging, megohmmeters) and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project).
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across Bali (e.g., Canggu, Ubud, Nusa Dua) as required.
  • OSHA or HSE certification is highly desirable for safety compliance.
