Responsibility
- Serve as the primary representative of the vessel owner, ensuring all operations align with company policies and international maritime laws.
- Oversee the safe navigation, operation, and maintenance of the chemical tanker, ensuring compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, and other relevant regulations.
- Manage the loading, transport, and unloading of chemical cargo, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental standards.
- Lead and mentor the crew, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports of vessel operations, cargo handling, and crew activities.
- Coordinate with port authorities, clients, and company management to ensure smooth and efficient vessel operations.
- Conduct regular safety drills, inspections, and training sessions to ensure crew readiness and compliance with emergency procedures.
- Monitor and manage the vessel's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising safety or quality.
Qualifications
- Valid Master Mariner (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency (COC) with a chemical tanker endorsement.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Master or Chief Officer on chemical tankers.
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with a track record of successfully leading diverse crews.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with modern navigation systems, cargo handling equipment, and vessel maintenance protocols.
- Commitment to safety, environmental protection, and continuous professional development.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
