As a Marine Oiler, you will be responsible for maintaining optimal lubrication of all onboard machinery, monitoring fuel and lube oil levels, and ensuring the reliability of critical systems. Responsibility
- Perform routine lubrication of all ship machinery, including engines, pumps, and auxiliary systems, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company protocols.
- Monitor and maintain fuel and lube oil service tanks, ensuring proper levels and preventing contamination or leaks.
- Inspect and interpret machinery gauges, alarms, and indicators to detect anomalies and report potential issues to the engineering team.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks on mechanical components, documenting findings in logbooks and digital systems.
- Assist in the cleaning, filtering, and replacement of lubrication systems, including oil purifiers and strainers.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
- Adhere to international maritime safety standards (SOLAS, MARPOL) and company HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies.
- Participate in emergency drills and respond to machinery-related incidents as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Oiler, Marine Mechanic, or in a similar role within the maritime or shipping industry.
- Certification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (e.g., STCW, MOT).
- Proven knowledge of lubrication systems, fuel management, and machinery maintenance for marine vessels.
- Familiarity with reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints for machinery operation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to document procedures and report issues clearly.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and during vessel operations.
