Responsibility
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on paediatric patients with precision and care.
- Ensure adherence to strict hygiene, safety, and infection control protocols.
- Label and process blood samples accurately for laboratory testing.
- Provide a calming and reassuring presence to young patients and their families during procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of all blood collection activities in compliance with healthcare standards.
- Collaborate with nurses, doctors, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless sample handling.
- Educate patients and guardians on pre- and post-procedure care when necessary.
- Manage and organize phlebotomy equipment, ensuring all tools are sterile and functional.
Qualifications
- Certification or diploma in Phlebotomy from a recognized institution.
- Proven experience as a Phlebotomist, with a strong preference for paediatric experience.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and healthcare teams.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to varying schedules in a locum role.
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, local regulations).
- CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is a plus.
