Responsibility
- Secure and lash cargo on vessels, containers, or transport vehicles in compliance with safety regulations.
- Inspect lashing equipment (chains, straps, wires) for wear and tear, and report any defects.
- Follow standardized lashing procedures to prevent cargo shifting during transit.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient loading and unloading operations.
- Maintain accurate records of lashing activities, including equipment usage and cargo details.
- Adhere to workplace safety protocols and participate in regular safety training.
- Operate heavy machinery or tools as required for lashing tasks.
- Assist in emergency response procedures in case of cargo instability or accidents.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lashing Specialist or in a similar role in logistics, shipping, or cargo handling.
- Certification in cargo securing or lashing (e.g., IMO, ISO, or industry-recognized standards) is a plus.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor or high-noise environments.
- Knowledge of lashing techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret cargo manifests, lashing plans, and safety guidelines.
- Team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overnight shifts if required.
- Familiarity with maritime or port operations is advantageous.
